KOF x Guilty Gear Crossover Begins November 23rd

A "King of Fighters x Guilty Gear" collaboration was officially announced for mobile game The King of Fighters: All-Star back in Sept. 2020. Today, Netmarble confirmed the crossover event will begin on November 23rd and features 6 playable Guilty Gear characters, a special story mode, collab. dungeon, login bonuses, and free playable fighter Sol-Badguy. Netmarble also shared some new character art to celebrate the crossover!

Happy Chaos Revealed for Guilty Gear -STRIVE-

Tonight, Arc System Works revealed the third DLC character for Guilty Gear -STRIVE- during this weekend's Red Bull Kumite event. The mysterious gunslinger known as "Happy Chaos" originally appeared in STRIVE's story mode (although his name was first mentioned in Guilty Gear Xrd REV 2) and will make his way to the roster on November 30th for Season Pass holders. Samurai Shodown Figure Line by Beast Kingdom Announced, Jubei Yagyu Preview

Beast Kingdom announced a new series of Samurai Shodown action figures from their "Dynamic 8ction Heroes" line which begins with iconic series veteran (no, actually not Haohmaru this time)... Jubei Yagyu! Beast Kingdom is known for their highly poseable 8-inch action figures with a focus on detail, durability, and realism. Arc System Works confirmed the third DLC character for Guilty Gear -STRIVE- will be announced this Saturday during the Bull Kumite in Las Vegas, Nevada! Replying to Red Bull Gaming's tweet regarding the players competing in the Guilty Gear -STRIVE- tournament this weekend, Arc System Works posted a new mystery silhouette of the upcoming character. SNK Teases Next KOF XV Character Silhouette, Trailer Tomorrow

After a couple weeks of no character reveals, tonight SNK confirmed a new King of Fighters XV character will be revealed tomorrow (Nov. 10th) and shared a new mystery character silhouette on Twitter. However, KOF series veterans will likely figure out who the silhouette belongs to in under 2 seconds. The distinctive weapon and hairstyle makes this character silhouette an easy guess for returning KOF players...

Fighting Game Artist Profiles Update: Harumaru

TFG's Fighting Game Artist Profiles feature has just been updated with another influential illustrator of the genre. Harumaru is a female artist who worked at Capcom from 1998-2000. She is famed for being the lead artist of Strider 2 and created promotional artwork for several hit Capcom fighting games, including: Street Fighter Alpha 3, Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike, Project Justice, and Capcom Vs. SNK.

KOF 15 Isla, Dolores & Heidern Idle Stances, Victory Poses

On Twitter, SNK shared a new video for The King of Fighters XV highlighting Team Rival's idle stances and victory poses. While Heidern's idle stance animation was recycled from The King of Fighters XIV, newcomers Isla and Dolores (expectedly) show off brand new and unique idle stances to the series. In fact, the KOF15 newcomers' idle animations aren't what you'd call "typical" and feature a variety of charismatic poses in sequence.

The King of Fighters 15 Team Rival Storyline Details

While SNK didn't reveal any new KOF15 characters this week, the company shared the official storyline details for "Team Rival" consisting of Heidern and the game's two female newcomers, Isla and Dolores. A peculiar team at first glance, Team Rival's storyline shines some light on the backstory of Isla, with Heidern and Dolores searching for her and requesting she join them to form the team.

Street Fighter V Reaches 6 Million Sales Worldwide, New Edition with All Characters DLC Announced for Japan

Capcom announced Street Fighter V has achieved over 6 million worldwide sales since its original launch back in 2016 technically making it the second best-selling title in series history following Street Fighter II's 6.3 million sold on SNES. However, the 6 million includes all versions of SFV, from the original version to Arcade Edition and Champion Edition.

KOF 15 Dolores Concept Art, Commentary by Tomohiro Nakata

Last week, SNK revealed the second newcomer introduced in The King of Fighters XV, Dolores. On Twitter this week, SNK shared official concept artwork of Dolores which includes additional commentary from lead designer Tomohiro Nakata. Nakata's commentary shines some light on Dolores's playstyle, including her projectile game, command throw, and more.

Rage of the Dragons Coming to PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, XB1, and Nintendo Switch

Based on the Double Dragon series, Rage of the Dragons is a 2D tag-team fighting game developed by Brezzasoft, Noise Factory, and Evoga Entertainment and published by SNK. The game originally released for arcades / NeoGeo in September 2002 and features 16 characters. QUByte Interactive announced they are bringing ROTD to PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.

TEKKEN 7 Legendary Edition Announced for Europe, Contains 8 out of 15 DLC Characters

Bandai Namco announced TEKKEN 7: Legendary Edition for Europe, coming November 12th to select retailers. This physical edition includes the base game along with 8 out of 15 DLC characters. If for some reason you still don't already own one of the greatest 3D fighting games ever made, this package seems like a fairly convenient way for newcomers to finally dive into TEKKEN 7.

Breakers Collection Closed Beta Coming to Steam January 2022

Originally announced way back in August '19, Breakers Collection is a digital compilation containing two cult-classic NeoGeo 2D fighting games: Breakers (1996) and Breakers Revenge (1998). Developer QUByte Interactive has been quiet about the game over the past year the project presumably being delayed due to Covid-19, but the developers have finally come out of the shadows to announce a closed beta for Jan. 2022 and released a new trailer.

The King of Fighters XV PS4 / PS5 Open Beta Test Coming in November, New Character Dolores Revealed

During Sony's State of Play stream, SNK announced an open beta test for The King of Fighters XV will be held on PS4 and PS5 from November 19th-22nd. In addition to the open beta announcement, today's new KOF XV trailer reveals the identity of the second female newcomer of KOF XV, Dolores. The trailer briefly shows some gameplay of Dolores and highlights the features of the upcoming KOF XV open beta.

Behind The Scenes Concept Artwork of SFV:CE's Ryu and Chun-Li Breast Cancer Charity Costumes

Earlier this month, Capcom released two Street Fighter V: Champion Edition charity costumes for Ryu and Chun-Li in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Players can pick up either costume for $5.99 or both for $9.99, with all proceeds (and a minimum of $25,000) going towards breast cancer research. Today, Capcom shared behind-the-scenes concept artwork for each of the charity costumes.

Rumor: New Killer Instinct in Development at Microsoft

Back in 2013, iconic 2D fighting game franchise Killer Instinct was rebooted by Double Helix (later Iron Galaxy) releasing exclusively on Xbox One and later brought to PC. The game was well-received by critics and fighting game fans alike, and even had an impressive run in esports and the tournament scene. A hot-off-the-presses rumor suggests that a brand new Killer Instinct game is in development at Microsoft.

SNK Shares KOF 15 Art of Fighting Team Storyline

SNK didn't reveal a new character trailer for The King of Fighters XV this week, but did post up a new storyline for a veteran team of the series. The official KOF15 story for "Team Art of Fighting" consisting of Ryo Sakazaki, Robert Garcia, and King is now live on the official website. Garou: Mark of the Wolves fans might appreciate that Marco Rodriguez gets a mention in Team AOF's story.

KOF '98: Ultimate Match Final Edition Steam Rollback Beta Test Begins October 19th

SNK's latest classic fighting game to be revived and enhanced with Rollback Netcode is none other than the best version of The King of Fighters '98... KOF '98: Ultimate Match Final Edition. Indeed, it's a title with a lot of words... but it has even more playable characters. (46 to be exact!) A beta test to roll out the new feature on Steam officially begins tomorrow, Monday, October 19th, 2021.

NY Chinatown Fair Arcade Documentary by Red Bull Gaming

Red Bull Gaming uploaded a short (but sweet) video documentary on the history of the iconic Chinatown Fair arcade. Like many other arcades across the country, New York's Chinatown Fair was a meeting place and battleground for many old school members of the FGC. The video doc features commentary by several FGC veterans, including: Arturo "Sabin" Sanchez, Chris "Kreymore" Landon, Josh "Nerdjosh" Jodoin, and Joe "LI Joe" Ciaramelli.

Guilty Gear -STRIVE- Version 1.10 Full Patch Notes

Tomorrow (October 15th), Arc System Works is rolling out a major Guilty Gear -STRIVE- update that will tweak the universal gameplay mechanics and bring along a plethora of new character balance changes for the entire roster. Heidern KOF 15 Gameplay Reveal Trailer, Screenshots

While KOF series veteran Heidern was confirmed for the game a while back via the official box artwork for The King of Fighters XV, SNK officially announced Heidern and shared his gameplay reveal trailer tonight. Previously appearing as a DLC character in The King of Fighters 14, Heidern retains many of his attacks and animations from the prequel but also shows off some new tech.

SNK debuted the KOF XV gameplay reveal trailer for returning character K' during Tokyo Game Show 2021. This week SNK shared official concept artwork of K', featuring some additional commentary from lead designer Tomohiro Nakata. Nakata's commentary offers some insight into K's gameplay updates, including his new combos involving his Ein Trigger.

Capcom Vs. Osamu Tezuka "Tokyo Edition" Features New Illustrations by Various Artists

In Fall 2020, a historic crossover event between Capcom and Osamu Tezuka took form in the way of an exclusive art exhibit held in Takarazuka City, Hyogo, Japan. Recent photos taken by visitors at the new Tokyo location for the event show off brand new Capcom Vs. Osamu Tezuka artwork, including character sketches by iconic fighting game artists such as Bengus, Shinkiro, Kinu Nishimura, and Tamio.

KOF 15 Team Orochi Storyline Details Revealed

SNK has revealed storyline details for one of the teams that old school KOF fans are most excited to see return in The King of Fighters XV, Team Orochi. Formerly known as the "New Face Team," Shermie, Chris, and Yashiro Nanakase were presumed dead following the events of KOF '97. The text-based storyline on the official KOF XV website may leave fans with more questions than answers, however.

SFV: CE Breast Cancer Charity Costumes for Chun-Li & Ryu

Today, Capcom announced two special DLC costumes in Street Fighter V: Champion Edition for Chun-Li and Ryu to commemorate Breast Cancer Awareness Month, with all proceeds going to breast cancer research. SFV players can support the cause by picking up either costume for $5.99 or both for $9.99. The charity costumes will only be available for a limited time, from October 12th - November 12th, 2021.

Capcom Says PC will be "Main Platform" Going Forward

Many fighting game series have made the transition from being primarily played on consoles to launching on PC / Steam as the "standard". Modern fighting games like Street Fighter V, TEKKEN 7, and Guilty Gear -STRIVE- all have had strong launches on PC, with Steam versions featuring the best visuals, netcode, and mods enhancing the experience and replayability. Capcom's Haruhiro Tsujimoto recently said PC will be Capcom's "main platform"...

Akuma Now Playable in Megaman X DiVE

Bandai Namco Updating Logo and "Purpose" in 2022

Bandai Namco announced they will be updating to a new logo, effective April 2022. The original Bandai Namco logo first appeared in 2005, representing the "fusion" of the two companies. "Our current logo expresses the fusion of Bandai and Namco that was created when the companies integrated. It will be replaced with a new logo that reflects our new purpose."
