SFV: Champion Edition Summer Update 2021 Recap, Oro & Akira Kazama Playable August 16th

  

Today, SFV Director Takayuki Nakayama and Producer Shuhei Matsumoto kicked off the Street Fighter V: Champion Edition Summer Update 2021 stream event which had a variety of announcements! The livestream began with a breakdown of Oro's moveset, V-Triggers and updated play-style in the SFV engine complete with his new theme song playing in the background. We also got to hear from audio director, Yasuyuki Tsujino, who talked about the creative process behind recent SFV music and sound effects. Next up, Capcom showed off fresh gameplay of Akira Kazama, appearing on her Rival Schools-inspired stage coming soon to SFV:CE. Both Akira Kazama and Oro will be released on August 16th, in addition to the new stage. Directly below is the new Akira gameplay, followed by the full stream archive.
 

 

 

 










Finally, the fifth and final new character of SFV Season 5, Luke, was announced at the end of the stream. Luke is an American mixed martial artist / kickboxer. He is described by director Nakayama as a character who will "give us a glimpse into the future" and "will be expanding the world of Street Fighter." Luke will join the roster this November. Producer Shuhei Matsumoto added, "We feel strongly that Luke will be a great addition to the game, and that he has a bright future in the world of Street Fighter." The previously announced Tournament mode will also be added to the game soon (more details on that coming soon).

Last but not least, a new Fortnite x Street Fighter collab was announced, with Guile and Cammy confirmed to be joining Fortnite on August 7th.

Obscure Street Fighter II Anime Now Available in English

26 years ago, an obscure Street Fighter II anime short titled "Street Fighter II - Return to the Fujiwara Capital: The Fighters Who Leapt Through Time" was released to coincide with an exhibition in Japan's Nara Prefecture in 1995. Produced by Studio Pierrot, the 22-minute short serves as an educational movie about the history of Fujiwara, Japan.

Street Fighter: Duel Releasing Worldwide

During the North America East bracket of CPT 2021, Capcom reaffirmed earlier statements and confirmed mobile JRPG Street Fighter: Duel will indeed be getting a worldwide release, though no date was confirmed. Take a look at some new artwork, screens + gameplay inside!
