Street Fighter 6 Versus
Screen "Game Face" Feature
|
|
The
official Street Fighter Twitter account shared a new video
revealing details about the Street Fighter 6
versus screen and pre-fight cinematics. In Capcom's short but sweet
Twitter video, we learn the cinematic that will play before a battle will
feature both characters walking towards the camera, where we can see their
stats like height, weight, likes, and dislikes. The surroundings in this cinematic
also appear to be based on the particular stage the characters are
fighting on! Finally... similar to SoulCalibur
2's iconic versus screen, players will be able to change their
character's facial expression with the tap of a button. To catch all
the details, you might want to rewatch Capcom's Twitter video (below) more
than once.
FUN FACT:
As mentioned in the paragraph above, SoulCalibur
2
introduced a similar player-controlled effect on its versus screen back in
2003 (exclusive to the console versions). In SC2, players have four
different options of pre-fight taunts (which also contain dialogue) unique
to each character in the game. Interestingly, Namco had a patent on this
feature between the years of 1998 and 2015! Game developers during those
years could not legally use this effect even if they wanted to.

Please
stay tuned on Fighters
Generation for more Street Fighter 6 news. The game will be
releasing on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam in
2023.
