EVO 2024 Breaks All Time eSports Attendance Record, Final Player Registration Numbers

This week, player registration for Evolution Championship Series 2024 finalized and the tournament's organizers confirmed that EVO 2024 broke another all-time attendance record. EVO first announced on Twitter that over 10,000 players registered for the world's largest fighting game tournament, beating out last year's record-breaking event which held 9,182 players. Even more impressive, this 10,000+ number doesn't just break the record for a fighting game event... but for any live eSports event!

[UPDATE #1] On July 1st, EVO revealed the final player registration numbers for Evolution Championship Series 2024. Street Fighter 6 and TEKKEN 8 finish in the top two with over 5,200 and 4,600 players, respectively. Guilty Gear -STRIVE- impressively holds on strong in its third EVO appearance with 2,000+ players. Also worth mentioning, SFIII: 3rd Strike will have 1,101 players at EVO '24 a huge achievement for a 25-year-old fighting game.

In contrast... Mortal Kombat 1's player registrants are abysmally low for the game's first ever EVO appearance awkwardly thudding into the final EVO '24 leaderboard in second-to-last place. And as far as KOF XV goes... we can probably assume KOF XV won't be coming back as a main title at EVO 2025 (to be replaced by Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves in all likelihood). [UPDATE #2] The official broadcast schedule for EVO 2024 has been released.
Evolution Championship Series 2024 takes place July 19-21, 2024 in Las Vegas, Nevada at the Las Vegas Convention Center (West Hall). A huge congratulations to the EVO team for setting another monumental attendance record! Once again, EVO 2024's main games are Street Fighter 6, TEKKEN 8, Guilty Gear -STRIVE-, The King of Fighters XV, Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike, Mortal Kombat 1,Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising, and Under Night In-Birth II [Sys:Celes]. Stay tuned on The Fighters Generation for upcoming EVO 2024 coverage.
