Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection

ABOUT
The Marvel vs. Capcom compilation that everyone has been waiting years for is FINALLY coming in 2024. On June 18, 2024 during the Nintendo Direct presentation, Capcom announced Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics for Steam, PlayStation 4 (and PS5 via backwards compatibility), and Nintendo Switch packing seven fan-favorite 2D games with new features and rollback-powered online play. The compilation includes: X-Men: Children of the Atom, Marvel Super Heroes, X-Men vs. Street Fighter, Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter, Marvel vs. Capcom, Marvel vs. Capcom 2, and classic 2D beat-em-up, The Punisher (the first-ever Marvel game by Capcom).

The Marvel vs. series collection we've all been waiting for.

Announced on the same day as a stunning new artwork drop
a beautifully-drawn key illustration featuring timeless Marvel Vs. Capcom icons... including a rare-to-be-smiling Cyclops and Ryu embracing in a handshake (bro-shake) of epic proportions on the very front, Marvel Vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics is perhaps the most hype-inducing announcement of its kind in a very long time. And i's not just "hype"... either. Because the brilliant 2D fighting game masterpieces appearing in this epic compilation are indeed some of the best 2D fighters of all time. Already, it seems like a must-own for anyone who enjoys fighting games, casually or professionally.

The fact that everyone will now be able to easily play online with (hopefully) excellent netcode and plenty of new "quality of life" features & options means that it's never been a better time to be a fan and dedicated player of Capcom's Marvel versus series. With
Capcom Fighting Collection's online infrastructure proving that a compilation of this nature can boast incredibly smooth and fast online and battle lobbies (especially on PC / Steam), this bodes very very well for Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection. It's great to see the new artwork and logo design for the "sequel", too!

New training options and modes... Hitbox viewer!

Confirmed Features:  Additional training settings (including 1-button specials / super moves option), save states, numerous display filters and border artwork, a Music Player with original songs from the arcade versions, Museum mode featuring never-before-seen artwork, development documents, and Online mode with Rollback netcode featuring casual matches, lobby matches for friends, ranked matches, and spectator features. The Punisher also has "drop in" 2P online co-op!

Additionally, "screen flashing" is now reduced on older titles such as Marvel vs. Capcom and X-Men vs. Street Fighter to be easier on the eyes. Cyber Akuma is confirmed playable in Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter. However, guest character Norimaru will not be playable in Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection.

The Music Player + Art Gallery will be packed with bangers.

Capcom's official site for Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection is now online. The official site confirmed additional details, with available ROM versions for each game listed, new details on universal features, character artwork, and videos of each game as it will appear in the compilation. For those wondering, MVC2 uses the "000224" ROM (Naomi arcade version).

Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics
is coming to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 / PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam sometime in 2024. The compilation was not announced for any Xbox platforms. The official Steam page for the game is currently live with a Wishlist / Follow option now available. A price has not yet been announced. More details are coming soon... thanks for reading! Please stay tuned on The Fighters Generation for more Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection news and content!

BOTTOM LINE

First Impression: 2024 has undeniably been an amazing year for fighting games already. . . and then... MVC Collection gets announced. The FGC is eatin' good. Better than ever. So it's finally here. A legacy collection made by the gods, for the gods. The Marvel vs. Capcom community and fighting game fans around the world have been waiting a VERY long time for this one.

2022's Capcom Fighting Collection was well worth a buy, offering surprisingly good online play via rollback netcode and countless new features to play around with while enjoying some classic games, online or single-player. A "sequel" of sorts... Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics raises the bar even higher with an epic package of 6 groundbreaking and genre-defining 2D fighting games that passionate fans still love playing 20+ years after their original releases.

Additionally... the 7th title is Capcom's classic side-scrolling beat-em-up, The Punisher — which can be described as sort of a "spiritual successor" to the Final Fight series. If you're not familiar with the title, The Punisher (1993) by Capcom is definitely an underrated gem and actually one of the best 2D beat-em-ups of the 90s. A must play! Drop in 2P co-op mode online? Yes please.

In terms of "pure excitement"... and considering how much this monumental fighting game series truly deserved a comeback, it's hard to beat Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection. This title will obviously be a must-own for many. And if you haven't fully explored every character, team, and combo in this epic series... this is literally the BEST time to jump in!
