Kim is a Tae Kwon Do master
who has a wife (named Myeng Swuk) and two kids, Dong Hwan
and Jae Hoon. His belief in good and his
quest for justice borders on obsession and he has no mercy for evil. His
famous quote is "evil is unforgivable!" Kim has taught Tae Kwon Do to many
fighters in the SNK universe. Seo
Yong Seong is one of Kim's star pupils.
During the Fatal Fury timeline, Kim is the reigning world champion of Tae
Kwon Do. He decided to join the tournament to test his TKD skills against the
best fighters on the planet. He first traveled to fight Krauser,
and later encountered the "Lone Wolf" himself, Terry
Bogard. After their first battle, they soon became good friends. Kim agreed
to help Terry in all that he can, though the two remain rivals when it comes to
fighting.
In The King
of Fighters series, Kim is considered as a national hero in Korea. His
celebrity status enabled him to convince the authorities to give him custody
over Chang
Koehan and Choi
Bounge, in
an effort to rehabilitate them out of their criminal ways. Although both men
resented Kim for his actions, they eventually grew to respect him. In most of
his King of Fighters appearances, Kim was the captain of Team Korea. In
later tournaments, he also invited
his rival
Jhun
and up-comer May Lee to join Team Korea. In
The King of Fighters XI, Kim appeared as a member of Team Fatal Fury in
place of Tizoc. Chang and
Choi wanted to see Kim enjoy himself for one, and convinced him to join with
Terry Bogard and Duck King.
Before the events of The
King of Fighters XIII, Kim realized that his original rehabilitation
subjects (Chang and Choi) have amended their ways, and set his sights on two
other "villains" that he remembers from the past, Hwa
Jai and Raiden. He
believes they are still working for Geese
Howard and demands that they repent. Even though that they immediately deny
that they're still working for Geese, Kim states that they shouldn't waste their
talents and change their "criminal ways". The join him in KOF XIII,
and Kim's new team shocks the media and it becomes a popular subject of gossip.
