SNK Vs. Capcom: Card Fighters Clash 2
ABOUT:
SNK Vs. Capcom: Card Fighters Clash 2
is the sequel to the first highly addictive card battle game released
exclusively for the Neo Geo Pocket Color in 1999, Card Fighters Clash.
In addition to the
240
Character cards and 60 Action cards from the first game, 124 brand new
cards (with cool new artwork by various SNK artists) have been added to the
sequel. Among these are 40 "Reaction" cards — which are similar to
Action cards but can be used to counter the opponent's attack. Unlike the first
game, Card Fighters
Clash 2 was released only in Japan.

Card
Fighters Clash 2
features a more straightforward single-player mode, as opposed to
the RPG-like gameplay experience of the first Card Fighters title.
Instead of being released
as two versions like the previous game, Card Fighters Clash 2 was
released as a single version that allows the player to decide to either start
with an SNK deck or a Capcom deck at the beginning of the game. Like the
original game, CFC2 features characters from a wide variety of Capcom and SNK
titles, including: Street Fighter, KOF, Darkstalkers, Samurai
Shodown, Resident Evil, and more obscure SNK fighting games like Savage
Reign.
The four main heroes from the first game return in Card Fighters Clash 2.
These characters are: Cap, Shin, Comet, and Kei. Card Fighters Clash 2
features a far greater number of unique characters / card battlers than were in
the prequel. Check out Page 4
of TFG's Character Art Gallery to see official illustrations of these unique
characters.

Dreamcast connectivity!
|
Unfortunately, Card Fighters Clash 2 was never officially released outside of Japan.
However, in 2008, a fan-made English translation of
Card Fighters' Clash 2 was created in the form of a patch and is
currently the only way to play the game in English. In January
2022, SNK released the original Card Fighters Clash on Nintendo
Switch. So hopefully, SNK comes around and releases a modern port of the sequel
as well.
FUN FACT:
SNK Vs. Capcom: Card Fighters Clash 2 features connectivity with the Japanese Sega Dreamcast version of
Capcom Vs. SNK 2 to unlock
various content and cards in the game.

Words: |
As a huge fan of the first Card Fighters Clash (such a good game), it's pretty sad that I've only had the chance to play the Japanese version of CFC2 on a crappy emulator,
and I can't read Japanese that well... so I haven't been able to really "play" this sequel - like many other English fans. I speak only as a fan of card games. CFC1 really is that much fun as a card game, alone. The whole fighting game theme is nice, too.
Here's hoping SNK will eventually release an official English version of CFC2. Is that so much to ask? I'm sure a proper translated version exists somewhere on the internet, but I'd prefer to have the full and original SNK experience of CFC2... with online mode, perhaps. On that note, what NEOGEO Pocket Color fans really deserve is a Card Fighters Clash 1 + 2 re-release - with online.
Release it on Nintendo Switch or something, guys. Hey,
c'mon cmon SNK!
