SNK Vs. Capcom: The Match of the Millennium Coming to Nintendo Switch

Before the original Capcom Vs. SNK released in the year 2000, the original crossover fighting series actually began on SNK's NEOGEO Pocket Color with SNK Vs. Capcom: The Match of the Millennium in 1999 — featuring an incredible roster of 26 playable characters from the likes of Street Fighter, Darkstalkers, KOF, and Samurai Shodown. According to a new listing on the South Korean ratings board, it appears SVC: MOTM is finally on the way to Nintendo Switch. [UPDATE] SNK confirmed the game is coming to Switch on February 17th, 2021. It seems like perfect timing for SNK to release this fan-favorite NGPC fighting game... as they essentially "warmed up" the Nintendo Switch audience by re-releasing other prominent 2D fighters on the 16-bit system, including: SNK Gals fighters, The King of Fighters: R-2, The Last Blade: Beyond The Destiny, Samurai Shodown! 2: Pocket Series, and Fatal Fury: 1st Contact last year.

SNK Vs. Capcom: The Match of Millennium is regarded as one of the best (if not the best) NEOGEO Pocket Color fighting games to release on the system. The amazing roster, incredible and nostalgic soundtrack, solid gameplay, fun combo system, and tons of modes & cameos make this crossover a treat for any SNK or Capcom fan.

It's also worth noting... this will be the first game in the Capcom Vs. SNK saga to be re-released on a modern console since 2013. One would assume SNK needed Capcom's consent to re-release MOTM on Switch in 2021 (as the game contains various Capcom IPs), and to see the companies working together again is potentially a positive sign for fans hopeful for an eventual CVS2 re-release (or even the long-rumored Capcom Vs. SNK 3). Furthermore, its also a good indication Card Fighters Clash and/or CFC2 are Switch-bound as well. Who knows, maybe even SVC: Chaos will get a modern re-release.

SNK Vs. Capcom: The Match of the Millennium has a total of 26 playable characters (13 on each side) 8 of which have to be unlocked (through playing modes in-game) in the original version. In addition to the playable roster, many other cameo characters and Easter Eggs make appearances.

Karin Kanzaki is one of the "hosts" of the game who appears in Olympic Mode on the main menu screen. Besides Survival and Time Attack... First Blast, Ghost Trick, and the DDR Style "Cat Walk" are fun Bonus Mini games themed after Capcom and SNK characters. SNK packed a ton of heart and fan-service into this game in 1999. Needless to say, the charming 2D sprites and art style still hold up to this day!
