Ramon grew up poor, but was inspired by famous pro wrestlers. Soon he became a famed wrestler and earned lots of money, much of which he donated to charity. One day he was approached by Vanessa who was looking for team mates for the KOF2000 tournament. Thinking he could broaden his horizons, Ramon joined her and soon became infatuated with her. Eventually, they helped the K' team take down Zero. The following year, they were teamed up with Iori, which didn't work out for them very well.

Ramon is tribute to the Lucha Libre style of wrestling, which hadn't been done in KOF until Ramon arrived. His personality and fighting style is definitely unique to the series. However, I'm not a big fan of his outfit / clothing design. I think SNK could've done more with him. I think it would've been more appropriate if he looked more Mexican? I dunno, he just looks like a punk... and he's pretty annoying in gameplay.

While Ramon has his cool moments, he's definitely a goofball character... but I'm really not sure where SNK was really trying to go with this design. His moveset is cool and fun-to-use if you learn him, but compared to other fighting game wrestlers (and other KOF characters), Ramon comes up short IMO. Not even his KOF XIV revamp changed my opinion on him... his new animations are pretty awkward and he doesn't have any "big moves" as a fighting game wrestler. Contrary to his loud clothing style, he actually lacks excitement and flash in some areas (compared to other fighting game wrestlers).
