The judge
who stands and watches the battles between warriors. He will always be the
judge for matches and will clean up the dead bodies after matches as well. In
the first Samurai Shodown, he was forced to judge matches as a servant
of Amakusa
because his other brothers were held hostage. After Amakusa's defeat, he
reunites with his family. One of the brothers had a previous working
relationship with Nicotine and is well
versed in necromancy.
Thirty years ago, he and Nicotine fought against Mizuki
but was defeated. Not much is known about his past or his powers. While he made his first appearance in Samurai Shodown (1), he is a hidden opponent in Samurai Shodown 2 and also playable with a
code.
He is known as "The Ump" in the English version of Card Fighters Clash. Apparently his real name is actually "Slick" Sukihiro. In Samurai Shodown 2, Kuroko uses projectiles and attacks based
on SNK characters from other games, including: Ryo
Sakazaki, Tung Fu Rue, Wolfgang
Krauser, Jubei Yamada and John
Crawley.
Although he appears as his own character in the series, real life kuroko are meant to be anonymous and "invisible" stage men in Japanese theater. The color black (kuro) in Kabuki and Noh theaters, means to be invisible.
