SNK Vs. Capcom: The Match of the Millennium Headed to Nintendo Switch eShop on February 17th

Tonight, SNK officially announced NEOGEO Pocket Color classic, SNK Vs. Capcom: The Match of the Millennium, is on the way to Nintendo Switch confirming our earlier report on the South Korean ratings board listing. The first ever fighting game crossover featuring playable SNK and Capcom characters under the same roof hits the Nintendo eShop later this month on February 17th, 2021 as part of the NEOGEO Pocket Color Selection. On Twitter, SNK released this promotional artwork below to celebrate the epic re-release! Once again, this may be a good sign for those still hoping for modern re-releases of other titles in the SNK Vs. Capcom / Capcom Vs. SNK crossover series.

SNK Vs. Capcom: The Match of Millennium is regarded as one of the best (if not the best) NEOGEO Pocket Color fighting games to release on the system. The amazing roster, incredible and nostalgic soundtrack, solid gameplay, fun combo system, and tons of modes & cameos make this crossover a treat for any SNK or Capcom fan.

It's also worth noting... this will be the first game in the Capcom Vs. SNK saga to be re-released on a modern console since 2013. One would assume SNK needed Capcom's consent to re-release MOTM on Switch in 2021 (as the game contains various Capcom IPs), and to see the companies working together again is potentially a positive sign for fans hopeful for an eventual CVS2 re-release (or even the long-rumored Capcom Vs. SNK 3). Furthermore, its also a good indication Card Fighters Clash and/or CFC2 are Switch-bound as well. Who knows, maybe even SVC: Chaos will get a modern re-release.

SNK Vs. Capcom: The Match of the Millennium has a total of 26 playable characters (13 on each side) 8 of which have to be unlocked (through playing modes in-game) in the original version. In addition to the playable roster, many other cameo characters and Easter Eggs make appearances.

Karin Kanzaki is one of the "hosts" of the game who appears in Olympic Mode on the main menu screen. Besides Survival and Time Attack... First Blast, Ghost Trick, and the DDR Style "Cat Walk" are fun Bonus Mini games themed after Capcom and SNK characters. SNK packed a ton of heart and fan-service into this game in 1999. Needless to say, the charming 2D sprites and art style still hold up to this day!

Garou: Mark of the Wolves 2 Unofficial Mock-up by Streets of Rage 4 Artists

A direct sequel to Garou: Mark of the Wolves was in development by SNK in the early 2000's, but the project was canceled. Many years later, unfinished 2D character sprites from MOTW 2 surfaced, unveiling several new characters who were planned for the sequel. Two artists from Lizardcube Games (Streets of Rage 4, Wonderboy) created a mockup for MOTW2.
