Capcom Cup 2022 Canceled Amid Omicron Concerns

  

Similar to last year, 2022 will host a mix of both offline and online fighting game events with COVID-19 and its Omicron variant still a major concern for travel, and especially international travel. Today, Capcom Fighters announced on Twitter that Capcom Cup VIII a live event originally scheduled to kick off in February 2022 in the U.S.A., has been officially canceled. "We will be producing an online season final similar to last year," said Capcom. "Due to the rising cases of COVID-19 and after careful consideration, Capcom once again finds itself in the difficult position of having to cancel #CAPCOMCUP," Capcom said on Twitter. As it reads above, Capcom will produce an online season final event featuring the players who qualified for Capcom Cup VII. @CapcomFighters will provide additional details regarding the future of Capcom Pro Tour 2022 later this year.
