Capcom
Cup 2022 Canceled Amid Omicron Concerns
|
|
Similar
to last year, 2022 will host a mix of both offline and online fighting
game events — with COVID-19 and its
Omicron variant still a major concern for travel, and especially
international travel. Today, Capcom Fighters announced on Twitter that
Capcom Cup VIII —
a live event originally scheduled to kick off
in February 2022 in the U.S.A., has been officially canceled. "We
will be producing an online season final similar to last year,"
said Capcom. "Due to the rising cases of COVID-19 and after careful
consideration, Capcom once again finds itself in the difficult position of
having to cancel #CAPCOMCUP," Capcom
said on Twitter. Below is the full statement via Capcom Fighters.
As it reads above, Capcom will produce an online season final event
featuring the players who qualified for Capcom Cup VII. @CapcomFighters will provide
additional details regarding the future of Capcom Pro Tour 2022 later this year.
Keep it here on Fighters Generation for
