Vanessa is a security guard
of unknown origin, using Vale Tudo as her fighting style. She entered the
tournament as Sarah's bodyguard
after hearing of J6's plans to re-capture her. When she was still a child,
Vanessa's parents were killed. She was taken by J6 shortly afterwards,
and trained to be an instrument of combat. A man named Lewis, a member
of the special forces, infiltrated J6 and rescued Vanessa. Vanessa grew
close to Lewis. However, their time together was brief, as a member of
J6's special forces murdered Lewis. Years later, she has joined an organization
to protect important individuals. One day, she hears of J6's intention
to capture Sarah in the 4th tournament. Vanessa decides to join the 4th
tournament not only as Sarah's bodyguard, but to find Lewis's murderer

Storm is a great Marvel character.
Vanessa seems to borrow the hairstyle and look. Hmm... here's a quick Fan
Fiction for ya: Storm lost her weather powers, quit the X-Men, took up Vale
Tudo, became a soldier... and then somehow decided to join the Virtua Fighter
tournament. lol. Vale Tudo is a cool martial art with all the ground grappling
stuff.
Marduk does it better IMO, but Vanessa's
style evolved nicely in the VF series. Vanessa's original VF4
moveset bored me... but her options and animations greatly improved in VF5
and its future incarnations. She has a hard-hitting fighting style, which is nice to see from a female fighter.
I do wonder why
they made her skin appear noticeably "lighter" in VF5...
perhaps to make her look
less like Storm? lol. In any case, I don't think her silver hair suits her character at all (is she
old?). Also, her personality is rather dry...
even for VF. In some ways, Vanessa adds "something" to the
series... but many 3D
fighting game characters outshine her in terms of excitement, likeability, and fighting style.
Still, her moveset adds a lot to Virtua Fighter. Also, shoutouts to Jade Cargill
for making this look actually work! Jade is Vanessa come to life. What a time to
be alive!
