Saki Omokane


            

BIO:

Saki is a somewhat ordinary 16-year-old high school girl. After a monster appears in her town, she unexpectedly becomes an Earth Defense Force specialist. She is armed with a giant rifle to aid her in defending her town against the monster.

Saki Omokane first appeared in Quiz Nanairo Dreams - Nijiirocho no Kiseki (Quiz Seven Color Dreams - Miracle of Rainbow Color Villiage). Quiz Nanairo Dreams is a dating simulation arcade game (later ported to PlayStation & Sega Saturn) and was only released in Japan. Saki made her first fighting game appearance as an assist character in the first Marvel Vs. Capcom. She later appeared as a playable character in Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom.

My first exposure to Saki was in Marvel Vs. Capcom 1. At the time, I had no idea who she was... even as a big Capcom fan in the 90s. No, I didn't play Quiz Nanairo Dreams like 99% of all other humans on this planet. lol. I always thought her MVC1 assist was cool-looking and kinda fun to use, although definitely weaker than the best assists in the game.

Her first playable appearance in Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom was totally unexpected, but great fan service for those of us who remember her from MVC1.  I think she nicely takes the place of Cable as the gunslinger in the TVC series; and thankfully, she's much more balanced (and slower) than Mr. OP Hyper Viper Beam himself.  Overall, I think Saki is a cool, underrated, and unique Capcom design. Her personality and entertaining fighting style definitely stand out in the game. Her Level 3 super is one of the most entertaining in TVC!
