BIO:

Anakaris is the 12th Pharaoh of a great Egyptian empire, becoming Pharaoh when he was 12. He foresaw his death and revival, and soon had a pyramid and a sanctum created for his return. 5000 years later, he was brought back to life when Pyron invaded Earth. After the battle, he traveled 5000 years back in time to fight and defeat the invaders of his empire.

After his kingdom was saved, he heard a voice from the far future. He traveled to the present time and entered the Majigen (a dimension created by Jedah). While fighting there, he learned that the destruction of his kingdom was unavoidable. In order to protect it, he then returned to his kingdom and took his people to another dimension so that they may be free from the wars of Earth.

His official story is as follows: In the distant past, an immensely powerful dynasty ruled Egypt. After its pharaoh's death, however, the empire was crushed by neighboring invaders. Just before his demise, the final ruler of the dynasty vowed to return and save his kingdom. 5000 years later, the pharaoh Anakaris stirs in his towb... he is awake! "Is this the will of God?" he wonders. In a flash, he makes up his mind... "I shall amass power and regain the Upper and Lower Empires!" Anakaris has an ominous premonition of someone with a will of great strength coming from very far away. A mysterious voice informs him to gather together and become united into one entity. Anakaris, the eternal and absolute ruler, will not tolerate this hoax message that plays upon his mind. To defend the perpetuity of this most powerful nation, he bravely proceeds to the field of historic battle. "Those who follow my will shall be protected, those whose oppose me will be destroyed in an instant. No matter how fate weaves the carpet of the future, my rule will never falter."

A creepy "Pharaoh mummy" with extendable limbs somewhat similar to Dhalsim, Anakaris is a very original fighting game character design. Since he's got the whole "mummy" thing going on, he clearly fits in with the rest of the horror archetypes of Darkstalkers. I'd consider Anakaris to be one of the more "sleeper" designs of the series, as he lacks a vivid or likeable personality. He's more of the "silent & intimidating," towering-monster type... and then he's got some crazy attacks that you don't expect. ;)

It was a surprise to see him appear in a few crossovers like MVC2 and Capcom Fighting Evolution... but his moveset actually stands on its own, and he's actually a pretty fun character to use if you give him a chance. The where he turns you into a little doll (etc.) that worships him never fails to crack me up.
