Shirase is the true identity of Hokuto, after the seal on her bloodline was removed. Born as an illegitimate child to the Mizuki family, she was brought into the main family and renamed Hokuto. Responding to the powerful energy emanating from her brother Kairi, the bloodline seal on her becomes undone and her true form as an assassin comes forth. With her final bit of strength as "Hokuto", she erased Nanase's memories so there would be no obstacles in her memory to destroy Kairi.

It was pretty cool to see that all these years later, Arika returned to the mystery of "Dark Hokuto" (a hidden character in the first Street Fighter EX. As a visual design, Shirase is pretty elaborate and ornate. However, not much about her Fighting EX Layer moveset is that compelling (or different from Hokuto) if you as me.
