The
main protagonists of Soul Calibur 5, Patroklos Alexander is the son of Sophitia
and Rothion Alexander, the younger brother of Pyrrha,
the nephew of Cassandra
and Lucius. Patroklos
had been raised by his father, Rothion. Rothion would convey stories about
Sophitia and her holy mission to destroy Soul Edge. Patroklos, as a result,
desired to become a holy warrior, just like his mother and to one day meet
her.
When he was fifteen
years old, Patroklos won a sword-fighting tournament, but that same night, his
father began to succumb to his illness. Before his death, Rothion told
Patroklos the truth about their family. Sophitia had been killed in battle by
a group of malfested and Patroklos' sister had been abducted by a malfested
wielding a ring blade. Patroklos vowed to rescue his sister and avenge his
mother. After years of training under several masters of the fighting arts
(one of whom being Setsuka), he
learned of Graf Dumas' recruitment for warriors to hunt down the malfested.
Patroklos chose to work under Dumas in hopes of destroying the malfested.
Patroklos eventually
discards his shield and wields Soul Calibur as his only weapon. Though at
first he allows Elysium to dominate his will,
believing her to be his mother's spirit, eventually he realizes that she is
simply the embodiment of Soul Calibur. After killing his sister and bringing
peace to the world, he goes back in time and makes the decision to save her
instead. This draws the ire of Elysium, who imprisons him in a mass of
crystal.
In his mind, he
battles Elysium while the malfested Pyrrha chips away his crystalline prison,
and they rid the world of both swords afterward. Though Pyrrha retains her
clawed hand, Patroklos decides to accept her for who she is this time.

A pretty boy...
in Soul Calibur? Never saw that one coming! ;) Patroklos is a gutsy kind of
choice for the prominent new hero of SC5. He doesn't seem
particularly likeable at first, and once you get to know him in the storyline,
he's still kind of an asshole... lol. As a design, he's interesting at least...
a visually
intricate and original costume, and a unique yet simple hairstyle. At first
glance, his weapon style might not seem interesting, but he uses his sword &
shield unlike any other character I've ever seen. His stance is a bit
ridiculous, but he has a very fleshed out fighting style with some really fluid
animations. I do wonder why he tries so hard to point his weapon purposely
"away" from his target... counterproductive much? lol.
His Alpha version is a bit cooler I suppose, although he borrows a ton of moves
from Setsuka. I wish they explained it
in the game... but I'm assuming Setsuka taught him everything he knows? :/
