Jago is a Tibetan warrior monk who calls upon the power of the tiger to discover his destiny. Originally, Jago was found as a baby, abandoned at a Himalayan monastery. He was taken in by the Monks of the Tiger and showed great promise from the start. Under the tutelage of the ancient Abbot, Jago swiftly became one of the Order's star pupils. During meditation he is visited by the very Tiger spirit his Order serves, which grants him great powers and chooses him to battle the sinister evil of Ultratech. At first the power threatens to overwhelm Jago's sanity, but he soon masters it and becomes the finest warrior the Order has yet fathered. The ever-present uncertainty as to his origins, however, still troubles him.

At the end of the first Killer Instinct, Jago returns victorious to his shrine for communion with the tiger spirit. By defeating the evil that existed at UltraTech, Jago is brought one step closer towards total enlightenment. Granted new powers for his loyal service, Jago strives for self improvement. He must now seek out a greater challenge and fulfill his destiny.

Pretty much every fighting game series isn't complete without some sort of "ninja" design. Visually, Jago doesn't look like the typical "boring" ninja you might expect from an early 90's fighting game. He also has a variety of cool special moves and a hard-hitting fighting style. Not only is he a ninja, but Jago fights most similarly to Ryu & Ken out of all the characters of KI. Even though some may call his fighting style a "rip-off" of the shoto-style, Street Fighter players who enjoyed using Ryu & Ken could immediately find something to like about Jago when they first played Killer Instinct.... A smart design strategy by Rare. If you ask me, I'd say Jago is one of the coolest fighting game ninjas around - at least top 5! Jago's updated appearance in Killer Instinct 2/Gold wasn't a disappointment either. His voice actor also added A LOT to the character. At the end of the day, he's a mainstay of the series and one of the reasons Killer Instinct is awesome. Wooeeeeyaaaahhhh!!! (Full screen jump spin kick!)
