When
Kazuya Mishima was thrown off a cliff by his father, Heihachi,
the devil gene activated within him. Devil
appeared and offered Kazuya the ultimate power he needed to defeat his father
Heihachi, in exchange for his soul.
Kazuya,
driven by anger and revenge, accepted Devil's offer. Since Kazuya met Jun
Kazama,
another entity was created within Kazuya known as Angel which represented all
that was good within him. Angel
represents the "good" version of Kazuya's
Devil Gene. She fought to save
Kazuya's
soul from Devil, and failed at her attempt.

Nice try Angel,
but there's no stopping the devil gene! Kazuya wouldn't be as cool without it (so we forgive you, Angel). Tekken's storyline is filled with hatred and "bad guys" as anti-heroes,
which is one of its most defining elements. Nonetheless, Angel was an interesting contrast to
Devil in the earlier games, even though her original appearance was pretty generic.
The Tekken series went on without her for many years, but Namco went
all out with her epic return in TTT2! Her visual design in Tag 2 is much more interesting than her original look, along with her vastly upgraded moveset. While Angel's moveset is
based on Devil Jin, she does have quite a few unique
moves & mannerisms - making her a fun character for Mishima players.
On a random yet interesting side note: Angel's Tekken 2 artwork has her standing in a room with a checkered floor and a balcony. Nearly 2 decades after this image was released, the Fallen Colony stage appeared in Tekken 6 - with the same floor. It's gotta be the same place. (Don't forget you
heard it here on TFG first!) ;)
