Virtua
Fighter 3tb Online Announced for Japan
|

|
|
 Over
the weekend, Sega announced an online update for 1997's Virtua
Fighter 3tb (the "tb" in the title standing for Team
Battle). The Team Battle mechanic was originally an update to the arcade version
of Virtua Fighter 3 and
later ported as an individual release on Sega Dreamcast in 1999. As of
yesterday, Virtua Fighter 3 Team Battle Online
is now available on Sega's ALL.Net arcade systems in Japan. Sega confirmed
the 2023
re-release doesn't add any balance changes or content besides the online
play functionality.

Online.
Interestingly, Virtua Fighter 3tb will also appear as a playable
mini-game in the upcoming Yakuza title, Like a Dragon: Infinite
Wealth — releasing January 26th, 2023. However, the playable version
of VF3tb featuring in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth presumably won't
include netplay. Stay tuned on
