SNK Confirms New Art of Fighting Game and Samurai Shodown Action RPG in Development

During the Evolution 2024 showcase panel for The King of Fighters XV and Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, Joshua Weatherford of SNK Corporation's Game Division Studio 1  announced that the company is developing a new Art of Fighting (fighting game) as well as an "Action RPG" based on the Samurai Shodown series — confirming earlier reports on SNK urgently hiring project team members at their Osaka office. While no details were given about the new Art of Fighting title, Joshua told the audience that "you're going to see South Town in its full 70s glory brawling again".

During the Evolution '24 panel, Joshua Weatherford confirmed he is a lead on the upcoming Samurai Shodown Action RPG. "Also one of the projects I'm in charge of, that we also mentioned at the same time, is a Samurai Shodown action RPG. Look forward to that one, we have a lot of surprises in store." No release window or any other details on either project were talked about. We'll keep you updated.
