Rollback Coming to GGXrd Rev 2

Some fans might've been hoping for a new Guilty Gear STRIVE character reveal on finals day of CEOtaku '22, but instead of a new Season 2 character, Arc System Works announced a Rollback Netcode upgrade is on the way to the home versions of 2017's Guilty Gear Xrd REV 2 and 2016's Guilty Gear Xrd Revelator. ASW also announced a Steam public beta test for the upcoming rollback update, planned for "Late October", but hasn't yet specified the exact dates for the test. The official announcement trailer from Arc System Works (below) promises "smooth online play" with opponents "anywhere in the world" are possible once the rollback update drops. More details are coming soon.

While the Steam version of Guilty Gear Xrd REV 2 / Revelator will be getting the rollback enhancement, there hasn't been confirmation yet from Arc System Works that the PlayStation 4 versions will also be upgraded.

Other Arc System Works fighting games recently updated with Rollback Netcode include: Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R, Dragon Ball FighterZ, Persona 4 Arena Ultimax, BlazBlue: Central Fiction, and BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle, all yielding positive results and instantly growing the online player base / concurrent players online.

In case you haven't been keeping track, this means ALL main / final installments of each Guilty Gear series (XX, Xrd, STRIVE) are now playable with rollback netcode! If Arc System Works continues their trend, we may even see Granblue Fantasy Versus get a much-needed netcode update eventually.

Arc System Works also released the (above) promotional image on social media today to advertise Guilty Gear STRIVE's Season Pass 2 which will add 4 new characters to the game, including Bridget who joined the game back in August. The four newcomers will be joined by two new stages as well throughout the Season 2 upgrade. No announcements have been made as to who the 3 additional character might be, but we'll keep you updated as always! Below is the tweet from ASW announcing the rollback update.
