Yashamaru Kurama is "fallen"
samurai who stalks the shadows as the phantom thief “Karasu Tengu (Crow-Billed Goblin)." Wielding an heirloom nagamaki, he fights using the ancestral tengu
powers he has inherited. He loathes villains who exploit the weak for financial gain. Because his father was executed on false charges in the past, he has developed a deep and unparalleled hatred for the Tokugawa Shogunate.

Yashamaru is an immediately likeable Samurai Shodown design in many ways. The traditional style of samurai armor he wears is actually (and surprisingly) visually unique for the original series, since most of the old school samurai from the series characters only wear kimonos and little to
no armor. I personally prefer realistic / traditional designs like Yashamaru, over the more anime or fantasy type characters in the series... so I'm glad SNK went in this direction with Yashamaru at least.
Moveset-wise, he's got a simple yet straight-forward 2D fighting style. I was hoping for something a bit more dynamic, but his limited moveset works for the series. Lastly, Yashamaru's super projectile move is one of the flashiest in the game. Overall, he's a pretty solid design but could also be fleshed out in some ways.
