Jason
Voorhees is a fictional character from the Friday the 13th series. He
first appeared in Friday the 13th (1980) as the young son of camp
cook-turned-murderer, Mrs. Voorhees, in which he was portrayed by Ari Lehman.
Created by Victor Miller, with contributions by Ron Kurz, Sean S. Cunningham,
and Tom Savini, Jason was not originally intended to carry the series as the
main antagonist. The character has subsequently been represented in various
other media, including novels, comic books, and a cross-over film with another
iconic horror film character, Freddy
Krueger. Jason made his fighting game debut as a DLC guest character in Mortal
Kombat X.

NRS
successfully brought Freddy Krueger into MK9,
so it wasn't a huge surprise when Jason made his MKX debut. I'm not usually a
horror movie fan (due to their predicable / boring plots), so I didn't care much when Jason was
announced as another DLC 'cash in'. To be honest, I don't give much of a fuck about Jason. I give as much a fuck as Jason gives about dressing himself.
So what's so great about Jason? He doesn't die or get hurt? See... that
"idea" never jived with me. I say the following without an ego, because it's 100%
true: As a lifelong martial artist, I never could buy or accept the
fictional idea that a "man" (in random horror flick) who can't be
stopped or killed, because that's fake AF. See, you kick a man Jason's size in the
balls (properly), hit him in the throat with a good knifehand, and the fucker will drop. I promise. (Sorry
to spoil your horror-fanboy fun.) Additionally, a big dumb-tard wearing a mask
like that would have TERRIBLE peripheral vision - meaning he'd be easy
to dodge and sneak up on. Now that you learned how much of a clown this character is, I can talk about Jason in MKX. So yeah, uhh... NRS did a good job. :| *Yawn* Stabby stab stab. Stiff animation. Fan service. Cool. I'll give this overrated fucker a 3/5.
