The
title of the Black Panther is a generations-old mantle carried by the ruler of
Wakanda. Said title is currently held by T'Challa. T'Challa is a
brilliant tactician, strategist, scientist, tracker and a master of all forms
of unarmed combat whose unique hybrid fighting style incorporates acrobatics
and aspects of animal mimicry. T'Challa being a royal descendent of a warrior
race is also a master of armed combat, able to use a variety of weapons but
prefers unarmed combat. He is a master planner who always thinks several steps
ahead and will go to extreme measures to achieve his goals and protect the
kingdom of Wakanda. Black Panther first appeared in the
Marvel universe in Fantastic Four Vol. 1 #52 (1966).

Black Panther was
always a cool Marvel character. He stands for some great things, bigger than
just "superheroes," as a character design rich with story and philosophy.
The 2018 movie was great! (One of the few superhero movies of this era I
actually enjoyed.) Unfortunately, Black Panther debuted in pretty much the worst
possible Marvel fighting game (besides Rise of the Imperfects, but we
don't talk about that game here). Indeed, MVC Infinite was a disappointment for
any long-time MVC fan. Could you imaging how cool a Black Panther 2D sprite
would've been back in the MVC1/MVC2 days? -___-
In fairness, Black Panther is easily one of the best designed newcomers in MVCI.
His moveset is fairly simple but solid, even though he stole some of Wolverine's
moves. I suspect he will be back in future MVC titles. RIP Chadwick Boseman. :(
