YoRHa No.2 Type B
(Battle) or simply "2B" is the main protagonist of NieR:
Automata. She made her fighting game debut as a guest character in
SoulCalibur VI (2018). In 2024, 2B made yet another fighting game guest
appearance, joining the roster of Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising.
2B is a YoRHa android created to battle the machine lifeforms
that have invaded the planet on behalf of the surviving humans. She served
during the 14th Machine War. 2B is an all-purpose battle android, deployed as
a member of the automated YoRHa infantry. She is equipped with a multitude of
weapons for close quarters combat and can attack from range using the Pod
support system. Her eyes are obscured beneath her standard-issue military
visor, which she rarely removes.
2B is a blade of quiet determination. As a combat android, she does not
encourage idle chatter on frivolous subjects and is generally reticent towards
others. She also has high respect for the chain of command and rarely
questions her orders, unlike her partner. However, 2B occasionally expresses a
notably sardonic wit in the face of certain situations and can even be
hot-headed at times.

In recent times, Namco
smartly adopted the habit of associating their games with other high quality series.
The Witcher 3 is one of the best Action RPGs I've played in the last decade,
making Geralt an excellent guest character
choice in SC6. As far as JRPGs go, NieR: Automata is among the
finest I've ever played (with beautiful bullet hell elements). Epic game. It's a
masterpiece and you need to play it. In short, 2B is yet another perfect fit for
SC6, but in a uniquely different way.
At first glance, 2B doesn't look like the type of character I'd immediately
like. I'm not really into the cyborg / robot girl archetype... but 2B is very different
- mainly due to the awesome things she can do in the game. Very
much like a SoulCalibur character, 2B's personality and fighting prowess
shines brightest within her animation. 2B is a character who balances authentic
martial arts and stylish movements with futuristic weapons and powers. That
said, she'd even fit into TEKKEN...
but I think Noctis was a better choice there. 2B makes a pretty amazing SoulCalibur character, even though she still seems a bit "too powerful" for the series in general.
Several years later, 2B became a playable character in yet another fighting
game, Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising!
