Shao Kahn has many warriors under his
command, but his trust lies solely in the fighters of his own creation. Warrior
blood gathered from countless battlefields, fused with sorcery, produced his
most effective enforcer yet: Skarlet. An expert tracker, she preys on those
deemed enemies of the empire. During kombat, Skarlet gains strength from her opponent's blood, absorbing it
through her skin. Shao Kahn has a new mission for this formidable kombatant:
Discover Quan Chi's true intentions
and kill him if he plots betrayal of the emperor.
FUN FACT: Skarlet was originally
thought to be a secret character in Mortal Kombat 2, though this
was later proven to be a coding glitch from Kitana,
much like Ermac had been a
color glitch from Scorpion.

Why was I not
surprised when NRS added yet another anorexic stripper-ninja girl in Mortal Kombat 9? Anyway, she's one... bloody girl. Skarlet's moveset and gimmick is somewhat
interesting, I guess (Insert menstrual cycle joke here). But in typical NRS fashion, most of Skarlet's animations & moves are horribly-animated in MK9. As the sole
"new" character of MK9, she's not a total letdown, but leaves much to be desired. On the flipside, it's pretty cool that the MK designers created this character based on an old school MK2
glitch. However, an inside joke only goes so far.
Many years later, Skarlet's MK11 rendition is a complete 180 from her early "stripper ninja" debut. I'm not sure I've ever seen any fighting game character do such a 180 in such a short time. Skarlet went from scantily clad to being in full compliance with Sharia law. She's completely covered up in MK11. I'm not saying her MK11 outfit
looks bad (it's actually decent)... but... this
is a new character. Why even give her the same name? In closing, Skarlet's MK11 moveset is well-designed and pretty scary.
