The
self-proclaimed number one fighter in the United States of America, Rufus uses his own
homegrown style of Kung-Fu. He is obsessed with Ken
Masters, whom he considers his rival. He is on a mission to
prove that he is stronger than Ken, though, on his journey he frequently
mistakes many other fighters for Ken. Rufus is often seen riding his motorcycle
with his girlfriend, Candy, who seems to adore him and agree with his beliefs.
Rufus is a loud-mouth and tends to ramble continuously until someone cuts him

What an awkward and
weird-looking character... Hmm, and whadd'ya know... Rufus fits right in with the original Street
Fighter cast doesn't he? ;) Many of Street Fighter's most famous characters are... shall we say... "oddly-shaped". So Rufus fits right in with his unique take on roundness. It was a weird coincidence that both Namco and Capcom came out with an agile,
high-kicking fat guy around the same time. For the record... Bob from TEKKEN did come first, but Rufus and Bob fight pretty differently outside of their comparable girths.
Of course, my initial impression of Rufus was "WTF???" just like
everyone else's, but Rufus actually came through as an entertaining SF4
character.
He has a completely ridiculous yet highly entertaining fighting style, and
he's pretty damn hilarious to watch... especially those epic belly-jiggle physics. His SF4
story mode cut scenes also
can't be missed, and are among the bestin the game. lol. Call me crazy,
but I was actually happy to see Rufus appear in SFXT to square off against Bob. Makes perfect sense that the two fatties would finally meet!
On one final note: Justin Wong's awesome use of the character made Rufus's "raise the roof" an iconic meme at FGC tournaments. This is a prime example of a fighting game super move organically creating a crowd "hype routine''. (In case you don't know, the crowd at tournaments would put both palms in the air - in time with the end of Rufus'
Ultra I... every single time). I even participated in a few of these. It was epic. >:D
