The 5th generation of the Shirogane family of detectives. She is trusted by police despite her age and investigated last year's murders. Her gun, traps, and Sukuna-Hikona's instant death moves make her very dangerous. Naoto comes from a long line of Shirogane detectives. She's lived her entire life wanting to be like Sherlock Holmes, and others - but among her role models, there was not one woman. The police force is also predominantly male; therefore, she suffers from a gender complex, and she pretends to be a boy in order to be accepted in her job.

Since she's young, other detectives and policemen are often resentful towards her, and refuse to give her respect despite the fact that she is successful and has solved many a case during her career. Her life has centered around her police work, so she has learned all she knows by herself and is unused to a school setting. However, in order to investigate the Inaba murders, she enrolled as a student at Yasogami High.

Naoto is a pretty cool design. She's one of those classic Japanese designs that tricks you into thinking she's a "he" first (she literally does so in the Persona 4 RPG storyline). Her projectile-based fighting style fits into Persona 4 Arena well and adds some solid variety to the roster.
