Death,
also sometimes referred to in Japan as God of Death (Shinigami),
is present in nearly all Castlevania games. Death is often a boss fought
toward the end of the game. Most sources, such as game manuals, cite that
he is Dracula's second in command. Sometimes
he has played an important role to the story line, such as Castlevania:
Lament of Innocence. In most of his appearances, Death looks no different than the cultural
personification of The Grim Reaper. He wears a hooded cloak and holds a
scythe. Like Dracula, he can change into a second form upon being defeated
in the game.
