He is based off of a traditional Japanese "Naked" festival. Thinking that the foreigners would like to participate in the festival, he decides to enter the brawl. He's also hoping to have a good time while he's at it. His fighting style is known as "a power style of the Matsuyubayashi family / The three power provisions of the knowledge of man." He looks up to his father, Matsuribayashi Kadomatsu.

Sugoroku is obviously a kooky design, and a pretty decent comic relief character for the series (which Samurai Shodown was always somewhat low on). He brings a unique & innovative weapon to the series (and to fighting games) and he uses it in some crazy ways, including riding it like a rocket! lmao. Some of his special moves could have looked better though. :/
