Joseph was the focus
of the second Jojo series, back when he was a young man. In the third series,
which the game is based on, he's an old man who steps out of the spotlight
for his grandson Jotaro. Despite being in his
seventies, his mystical Hamon Energy keeps him looking about 20 years younger.
He has tons of experience from years of fighting and seems to know what
losing villains will say right before they do ("You're going to ask me
not to do this." "Don't do this!"). His stand is the Hermit Purple which
is a series of thorny, purple vines that has the odd power of giving him
hints on his quests. For instance, when looking for Dio, he chopped a camera
in half and pulled out a photo of Dio
from that moment. Joseph is the leader of the heroes on their quest to
destroy the evil Dio. There's also a special version of him where you play
as his younger self. Young Joseph
also appears in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Heritage for the Future as a secret playable character, as well as being a default character in JJBA: All-Star Battle.
