TEKKEN 8 Game Awards Trailer Confirms King, Paul, Law, Lars, Jack-8, and Jun Kazama

During The Game Awards 2022, Bandai Namco dropped a new TEKKEN 8 trailer confirming the return of several series veterans. While possibly a bit shorter in length than expected, the TEKKEN 8 Game Awards trailer confirms the return of King, Paul Phoenix, Marshall Law, Lars Alexandersson, Jack-8, and Jun Kazama. All of these characters have been confirmed by Bandai Namco as "playable" in the current build of the game — also check out their official character renders (below)! The Game Awards '22 trailer also shows off several new stages and story cinematics.

Producer Katsuhiro Harada told IGN in a new interview following The Game Awards that "aggressiveness" is a key word that can be used to describe various new elements of TEKKEN 8's updated gameplay system. While many core aspects of gameplay from the likes of TEKKEN 7 will remain intact, TEKKEN 8's new mechanics are being designed to make the game fun and immersive to watch as well as compete in. TEKKEN 8 will introduce a new gameplay system currently referred to as "Heat" — which is meant to enhance and articulate the aggressiveness of TEKKEN's tried-and-true gameplay.

Regarding the continued Mishima saga storyline, Harada mentioned that Jun Kazama will play a prominent role and "focal point" in TEKKEN 8's story. This will also be the first time Jun Kazama has appeared in a canonical TEKKEN installment since 1995's TEKKEN 2! Jun's affinity for animals, an important part of her design according to Harada, will also be portrayed in her intro animations and story mode.

In addition to the incredibly detailed character models built from the ground up for TEKKEN 8 (not reusing any assets from the prequel), TEKKEN 8 will boast insane next-gen particle effects, realistic weather effects like rain which will show on characters' bodies, immersive stage animations and background destruction, and multiple versions of some stages set at different times of the day.

Below, check out the o
