Artist Spotlight: LDAWB / Rival Schools Tribute & More

This year, The Fighters Generation is proud to introduce an all new "Artist Spotlight" series featuring some incredibly talented and passionate independent artists! The first artist up is LDAWB - a 2D/3D character illustrator from Texas, USA, with over 34k Instagram followers. LDAWB is known for his sharp lines, clean & vibrant coloring, dynamic poses, original character concepts, and amazing tributes to beloved characters from a variety of gaming genres. Below, learn about some of LDAWB's inspirations, past projects, and take a closer look at his brilliant Rival Schools 20th Anniversary Tribute - sure to be appreciated by any fan of the series (especially those of us still hoping Capcom will make Rival Schools 3).

PART 2

Below are two of IDAWB's 100% original character designs he created for (a hypothetical) Rival Schools 3. After seeing these badass designs... I just now realized Gorin High School's sports team needs a basketball player. "Red ponytail guy" fits the vibe of the series perfectly. The dude in the red outfit is named "Jinoga Kemeno" and, according to IDAWB, uses a similar fighting style to Burning Batsu!

That does it for IDAWB's Rival Schools tribute... Also check out the Rival Schools 20th Anniversary Art Tribute (featuring IDAWB's beautiful cover illustration) which you can flip through for free on Issuu.com.

Last but not least, take a look at several more IDAWB illustrations (most from the past year) featuring beloved characters from Final Fantasy VII, Final Fight, TEKKEN, and more... along with some of IDAWB's original concepts and character designs.

In addition to his awe-inspiring lines... IDAWB is well-known by his 34k Instagram followers for a his incredibly unique "fusion" Kingdom Hearts-inspired character designs. Amazing concepts AND beautifully drawn!

TFG:  Can you share with us a fond memory of a video game that deeply inspired you at a young age?

IDAWB:  The first time I saw the Street Fighter III: New Generation intro. I asked myself "what fighting game was ballsy enough to add literal pencil sketches for an intro?"

Thanks again to LDAWB for talking with us and sharing his amazing illustrations.
Don't forget to follow IDAWB's Instagram for much more! The man draws A LOT!
LDAWB also informed me he's working on FF7 Remake art. Hype!
