Frieza
was the emperor of Universe 7, who controlled his own imperial army and was
feared for his ruthlessness and power. He was the descendant of Chilled, the
second son of King Cold, the younger brother of Cooler, and the father of
Kuriza. Frieza is the catalyst antagonist of the entire franchise, as it is
his actions that led to Goku arriving on
Earth. He has made several comebacks since his fight with Goku on Namek,
including his invasion on Earth. Recently, he has been chosen to represent
Universe 7 as the tenth member of Team Universe 7 for the Tournament of Power
as a replacement for Good Buu. Frieza is the main antagonist of the Namek
Saga, Frieza Saga, Trunks Saga, Gods of the Universe Saga and Golden Frieza
Saga.
Frieza is one of the villains in the series who possesses an entire range of
transformations, each one being quite different than the others. It is implied
by Vegeta and Frieza himself in the
series that Frieza's fourth, most powerful form is actually his original form,
with the other three being forms that suppress and conserve his enormous
power. Frieza later confirms this while fighting the main protagonist, Goku.
His forms seem to revolve around both western and Japanese concepts of demons.

I used to come home from high school in the late 90's and
tune in on some live episodes of Dragon Ball Z... I remember watching a good bit of the Frieza saga during that time.
I wasn't interested in too many DragonBall Z characters, but Frieza kept
me watching for some reason. I remember wondering when the fight between Goku and Freiza would
end. (3 months later I was wondering the
same thing.) I was confused whether or not I was watching reruns, or if this was actually the same
damn fight still playing out. lol. DBZ is interesting in some ways, but
there's no way in hell I'd ever watch all of it. You only get one life. It'd be
wise not to waste half of it watching anime.
I've always liked Freiza's design. His voice actor adds so much to the character as well (R.I.P.). Freiza is probably one of my top 3 favorite DBZ characters.
