Gaira is a huge
(and sometimes not so smart) young monk-in-training. He is the grandchild of Nicotine. One day, he
and Nicotine got into a huge fight. This caused Gaira to leave his home and venture
on his own. During his travels, he witnessed Zankuro
killing an entire
village and was terrified by the sight. After Zankuro left the scene, Gaira was angered at himself for fearing
Zankuro. He decided
to go out on a journey to hunt Zankuro. During his search, he found out
that Zankuro was killed. He searched for his body and buried it and built
him a grave. This grave was named Onizuka. But shortly after, the grave
was destroyed. He then sensed that Zankuro's soul was resurrected and sealed
once again. Feeling that the one who sealed Zankuro's soul is too dangerous,
he heads out to Shimabara to find out who it is. At the end of Samurai
Shodown V, he is comically shaved bald at the whim of several other
