BIO:

Ash doesn't look like much of a fighter, but he employs a deadly fighting style (which is eerily similar to Remy's and Guile's). Ash wields green flames and has a flamboyant, mysterious and evil personality. His motives for entering is to take the powers of the descendants of the clans who sealed Orochi away 1,800 years ago, Kyo Kusanagi, Iori Yagami and Chizuru Kagura, for unknown purposes. He is successful thus far, leaving Kyo as the last power he needs to steal.

Ash is cunning and manipulative, often condescending friend or foe to his whim, and has ambiguous morals in his actions. He often gains his teammates through promises that he can fulfill, though he rarely specifies the means of granting them. Despite seeming frail by appearance, Ash is powerful as he is able to defeat Iori in his Riot of the Blood state seemingly with ease and also has the unique ability of creating green fire. Evil Ash or "Dark Ash" debuted in The King of Fighters XIII.

Series like KOF and JoJo's Bizarre Adventure have always been known their flamboyant / "feminine" male characters... but Ash takes things to another level. If we're being honest, Ash is a "weird" character design compared to what most fighting game players are used to. He's probably the most feminine male character ever to appear in a fighting game. For the Western audience, it might take some open-mindedness to appreciate / accept this type of design. On that note, you can't deny Ash is a pretty original character... and actually cool if you give him a chance.

When he debuted in KOF 2003, one could claim that Ash was guilty of "stealing" some of Guile's special moves. On the same token, that fact actually gave experienced Guile / charge-character players a newcomer to enjoy using in KOF - which isn't a bad thing! As a Guile player myself, I thought Ash was very fun to use in KOF '03 (and he even became one of my mains)! Later in KOF XII, Ash was significantly fleshed out with an awesome new 2D sprite. Ash's new stance, moveset, and mannerisms added a lot to his design. Love him or hate him, Ash is an effective and memorable "late bloomer" in the KOF universe.
